Moreira is a Mozambican born Pan African jazz musician, composer, producer, ethnomusicologist, and social entrepreneur. He has released six albums, winning three South African Music Awards (SAMA) as Best Producer on his first album, The Moreira Project Vol 1: The Journey and Best Contemporary Jazz Album and Best Album Packaging for his second album, The Moreira Project Vol 2: Citizen of the World.
His latest album is a collaboration with Cameroonian saxophonist, Manu Dibango entitled M & M: Moreira Chonguica and Manu Dibango which was launched at the 2017 Cape Town International Jazz Festival.
He has also produced music for a number of African artists including Simphiwe Dana and Afrikannitha and written music for movies and documentaries.
He has received a number of accolades in Mozambique over the years including being appointed as Cultural ambassador for the Mozambican Minister of Tourism and Culture, being a recipient of the MADE IN MOZAMBIQUE seal, being awarded SUPERBRAND status in Mozambique as an individual for two years in a row and receiving the ORDER OF MERIT from the President of Portugal for his contribution to jazz music in Mozambique.
He runs a production company called MORE PROMOTIONS in Mozambique that produces the successful MOREJAZZ SERIES (now MAPUTO INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL – MOREJAZZ SERIES) concerts in October/November each year.
He has performed at high profile festivals all over the world over the past 12 years and is considered one of the most relevant jazz musicians on the continent.
