 whatsonsa.co.za 20 March 2009 - Music industry leaders gathered in Sandton last night for the annual MTN SA Music Award (SAMA) nominee announcements, which reveals contenders for the 15th annual awards to be held at Sun City in May. 2007 "Best Producer" of the SAMA's and celebrated Cape Town Saxophonist; Moreira Chonguica has taken honours this year for his recently released "The Moreira Project Vol 2 - Citizen of the World" in the following categories - : "As a Capetonian musician and the director of an independent music label, I am exceptionally excited that once again I have produced an album of international quality", enthused Moreira. Moreira's debut album "The Moreira Project Vol 1 - The Journey" was nominated in three categories in 2007 and took the award for Best Producer. His latest offering: Vol 2 - Citizen of the World, boasts 18 fresh, energetic world class tracks including collaborations with Manu Dibango, Najee and upcoming hip hop artist, Simba. Album artwork, photographed by world renowned photographer Zwelethu Mthethwa (also from Cape Town) beautifully captures unique glimpses of Moreira's musical journey thus far. The Moreira Project will be performing on Saturday 21 March 09 in the Company Gardens at 16h00 as part of the Cape Town Festival main event. The album is available at all major music stores, iTunes, CD Baby and will be on sale at the concert. |
